"Boating is a lifestyle choice"

Trusted by owners and buyers alike for the last 8 years. I've sold approximately 50 boats — some big, some small, some fast, some slow. Whatever you're looking for, I'm always happy to help find the right boat for you.

Buying a boat isn't all that complicated — finding the right boat for your needs is.

The Boat Buying Process

1

Decide what you want the boat for

Sailing? Racing? Cruising to the beach with the kids? Power boats too — every boat has its niche. Boating is a lifestyle choice, so start with the lifestyle.

2

Find the right boat

Check Facebook and the brokers around town. We're happy to advise on the buy side, and will run the search for you for a 3% buyer's commission if you'd like us to.

3

Arrange a viewing

Found a boat you like? Time to go see it in person.

4

Get a second opinion

Bring someone with real knowledge for a second viewing — a professional surveyor, or anyone who knows what to look for. You can skip this by bringing the expert to the first viewing instead.

5

Make an offer

Offer accepted? Good — onward.

6

Sign the sales contract

Terms and conditions are stipulated, subject to a successful sea trial and survey.

7

Pay the deposit, sea trial

A 10% deposit is paid and you proceed to sea trial.

8

Survey

Always do a survey. Conducted at your cost, by an independent, trusted surveyor.

9

Pay the balance, transfer ownership

Once survey is successful, the balance is paid and ownership documentation is transferred — often to a company rather than an individual, for tax and liability reasons.

10

Get qualified

You don't need a PVOC to own a boat, but you do need one to operate it. If you're new to boating, we recommend a safe boat handling course.
